Welcome to Advanced Cable web server for our users personal web pages.
Please make sure that whatever you do with your web space, that it is in line with our
AUP.
Our users get 10mb of web server space for personal use that is visible world-
wide on the Internet on the WWW (The World Wide Web).
There is an important how-to article on our Disk Quota system on: overquota.txt
This document is to explain how to create your personal web page(s):
You might want to try: http://www.pc-tools.net/win32/freeware/gui/ the DIR2HTML
software to help you make the index.html file
- 1.) You need to create a web page before you can put it on the server
for people to see. Most people use a Windows, Macintosh, or Unix Operating Systems and graphical web site editors. Other people do HTML coding and other programming languages by hand. You can check certain sites like:
Web Monkey
-or-
Web Developers Virtual Library
PLEASE NOTE: Our mention of certain web sites does not represent our endorsement of them.
Please make your own evaluation on web sites, web page creation software, and
methods of web site creation and maintenance.)
- 2.) Get an FTP client program for example:Cute FTP, WS FTP, and Bullet Proof FTP.
CuteFTP can be obtained here:
(NOTE: You can also search on your favorite search engine for FTP programs as well.)
Again you will NEED to have an FTP client installed to upload your files to the server.
- 3.) Once you have your FTP program installed and your html files ready to upload.
Your will need to connect to the server to upload your files. So to do this, open you ftp client. Once you have opened your FTP client You need to browse and find the files you have created. For Example: your index.htm or index.html, pictures, and folders that need to be with you index file.
- 4.) Now on your FTP client, I used Cute FTP as my example. Where it states FTP HOST ADDRESS or HOST NAME.
Enter the following information: users.myacc.net
Like the example picture Below.
Once you have entered The
FTP HOST ADDRESS ----> users.myacc.net. You will have to
enter your web space USER NAME, for instance the begining of you email address yourname@myacc.net were user name is your name. As shown Below.
You will also have to enter your PASSWORD As shown below.
Now that you have entered your USER NAME and PASSWORD, Click on the CONNECT button on the bottom right, next to the exit button.
As shown Below.

Call us if your password doesn't work, or if you don't know what your web space username is.
- 5.) Once you are connected to the server and logged in under your name,
On the right window pane you will see a directory named public_html. On that directory
you want to DOUBLE CLICK on it. That is where you will Upload your index.htm or index.html files and anything else that may go with the html file. For example: any .gif, .jpg, .html, .htm etc.
Remember the main html file you upload has to be named INDEX in lower case, like so
"index.html" or "index.htm".
Special Note: Be careful
with CASE SENSITIVITY when uploading your web files. An "Index.html" (notice
the Capitalized "I"), or an "INDEX.HTML", is not the same as an "index.html"
(all lower case letters). Before you report a trouble please recheck the files
that were uploaded and compare with the CASE of the links in your HTML files.
Our web server WILL NOT find the files if the CASE does not match exactly ON
THE SERVER (this may differ from how you had them on your local machine).
- 6.) Once you have uploaded the files you can go to your web URL to see how it looks. The web address (location) will be: http://users.myacc.net/~username
(where username is your web space user name).
If you are not sure, or need additional help, please call our
Tech Support Department at (954)344-7100.
A Note for Advanced Users: Both "Standard PORT FTP"; as well as, "PASV - Passive FTP" will work. However you must be on your Cable Modem Connection for PASV to work. This is due to Firewall restrictions on our system. PASV - Passive Mode FTP will not work outside of the Advanced Cable Communications Network.
